GABRIEL MANYERUKE MOTIVATION

Many young people who are born gifted and endowed with immeasurable potential are becoming disorientated during their youth. Young lives are getting lost in a maze of personal indiscipline, purposelessness and bad choice of associates as they are somewhat aimless, doubtful, pessimistic and indecisive in matters of real life. Others fail to pursue their ambitions because they are immaturely and irresponsibly interacting with dangerous drugs. They end up wallowing in abject poverty as victims to detrimental addiction. Others are just stuck in relationships that are not ameliorating their lives. So many are wasted opportunities because some youths do not understand the purpose, they should live to accomplish yet when younger and with more energy is the best time to start a venture and a name for yourself as you build a legacy.

I discovered mind-blowing psychological facts from one writer unfolding that many are young people who lived, died and buried with dreams that never came to pass, ideas that were never shared, visions that never became a reality, songs that were never sung, books that were never written, plans and purposes that were never fulfilled. Very tragic.

I believe you are destined for great heights and you must not die as a non-achiever or as an unsung hero. It’s high time that you should do an introspection, set aside time to think about who you are and the epic life that you want. Dr Munroe once said that the greatest tragedy in life is not death but life without a purpose. Know your purpose, be challenged and immediately get ahead in life by getting out of your comfort zone and start to do something productive. Peter Drucker wrote, “The very best way to predict the future is to create it.”

You may set goals but your dreams aren’t going to manifest unless you stand up and walk out into the unknown where you might look foolish, encounter awkward situations and challenging circumstances waiting to test your courage. You need a bit of insanity for you to do great things. Believe in that you can. Critical thinking and problem solving are a catalyst to continuous change and innovation.

Get out of your comfort zone, get stared and don’t make excuses

Get into action and nurture your capabilities. Despite the challenges, be unstoppable. Bruce Lee once said, ‘I fear not a man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.’ This makes it clear that even if you are born talented in something you still need to step up for a habitual practice every day, repeating an action in order for you to be exceptional. Never allow your gift and ability stagnate in you. Be courageous to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the principle of action.

Success and failure are not a matter of chance, but they are both a matter of choice. If you violate success principles the results are predictable, you will hardly achieve your goals. Life runs on principles. Be disciplined and never prevaricate from success principles.

Embrace the principle of starting. Start where you are. Use the available resources that you have. Do what you can in your own small way to make a difference. Steve Jobs and Steve Wosiank did the same with Apple Computer. They started in a garage with an idea but later billions of dollars followed them. In the greatest success story of the age, Bill Gates, one of the world billionaires, out of passion for computers, he created Microsoft Corporation despite being a university drop out. ‘Successful and unsuccessful people do not vary greatly in their abilities. They vary in their desires to reach their potential.’ – John Maxwell.

Many people say they cannot start because they are not ready, they cannot start because they are scared or they are afraid of making mistakes and some will excuse themselves from starting because they are more concerned about what people will say. These are some of the trivial reasons that has left many young people fixed in the same position yet expecting different results. When they do not see what they desire, they eventually give up. They give up simply because they do not believe in themselves, they lack self-confidence and perseverance. If you lack such intrinsic aspects, you are just like a nice and shining vehicle parked out there without fuel, it cannot go anywhere. If you really want to get ahead in life and if you want to be successful, just start to focus on developing your innate endowments.

The principle of starting has nothing to do with your geographical setting or social background. What matters is your determination to get to where you desire to be and the strategies you have to employ for the sake of enhancing progress. It does not matter, you have all sorts of upbringing challenges, it is what you will do with the little that you have that matters, not the circumstances of your birth.

You do not need to be a genius to start, you do not need an educational qualification for you to start on something of your passion and become successful in it. Many successful people now enjoy prosperous lives but they started without any degree or qualification in anything but theirs was focus on productive activities of their passion. However, if you happen to have good education, it is wise for you to marry your career choice to your purpose. Work with diligence to upgrade your skills so that you create value as you contribute in your organization.

Recognize opportunities to seize and apply your talent or ability to some good purpose. Do not be idle minded. Many people remain stationary waiting for perfect conditions to come so that they can start to act. You will never get of your comfort zone if you keep waiting for rare perfect conditions. Stop blaming and find solutions to the problems you are facing so that you immediately set off to where you want your life to be. A Chinese Proverb says that a journey to a thousand miles begins with just one step.

Stop procrastinating. Be committed. The simple secret of getting ahead lies in the principle of starting. You do not have to be great to start, but you have to start in order to become great. The expert in everything was once a beginner. Follow your passion, make mistakes, learn from the mistakes and do corrections as you strive for excellence. Action is a real measure of intelligence. Start boldly punctuated by a leap of faith. Excuses can be as many as they are varied but entertaining them is to invite mediocrity.

You cannot change your life through making excuses. Successful people always find a way to make things happen. In an era of hyper-competition and non-stop disruption, the only way to stand out from the crowd is to stand for something special which should be your passion. You change your life by challenging yourself, by confronting your background and unwanted situations. People who are reluctant to do something are always looking for excuses. Great people who never hide behind excuses scored history and made it to greatness. Successful people challenge themselves and they boldly do things that many ordinary people do not even do thinking that it is hard.

It is during the hardest of times when one should not make an excuse but to make a bold decision, getting out of the comfort zone and start to work with a determination. Greatness comes not when things go always smooth for you but greatness comes when you are tested through the hard way. Most history makers and successful people were forged and galvanized in the most grueling crucibles. Therefore, avoid making excuses, focus on where you want to go not on the impediments that stand in your path. Commit yourself to taking responsibility, start and pursue great things.

Let go excuses, stop blaming and take ownership of where you are right now. You have the agency to change things irrespective of prevailing circumstances. Take advantage of opportunities or one day when you are older you will want to go back and grab some missed chances and time will not allow you. Never live to regret the opportunities you did not seize, dreams and talents you shelved. Be inspired. GABRIEL MANYERUKE IS A CERTIFIED EDUCATOR, INSPIRATIONAL WRITER AND MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER.
