Earlier on this week, l was thinking about how l used to affirm on some days after waking up. I would recite affirmations and give myself that much needed boost of confidence to kickstart my day. Did the affirmations work for me? To some extent they did, but as l was reflecting on that entire process and how it impacted me, l realized that there was a missing piece in that puzzle. That missing piece was a mind that was constantly being cultivated with positivity. Like l said, affirmations did work to some extent but l know for a fact that they could have worked more, they can work more than they did!
You see affirmations work but how will they work when the mind is cultivating negativity and nothing else? The thing about thoughts is they are random but here’s the catch, you can direct your thoughts and further cultivate them to get the results that you want.
“Your mind is like a garden which can be cultivated or neglected, and you are its master gardener. You can cultivate this garden, or you can ignore it and let it develop whatever way it will”.-John Kehoe
Imagine your mind is a garden of roses, for those roses to fully blossom as they should, they require an adequate environment that supports their growth. Without a proper environment, without investing more time in nurturing the plants, the garden can yield substandard roses or worse, the rose plants can die down. The same concept works when it comes to mindsets. If you are constantly thinking about your life in a negative manner, those thoughts will stop at nothing to change your overall perspective on your life and how you view the world around you.
“Remind yourself that you can voluntarily plant in your subconscious mind any thought, idea or belief you desire, and your mind will accept it provided it is introduced with feeling and reinforced through repetition” -John Kehoe
The above extract further reestablishes the fact l stated earlier on. How do you get the results that you want in your every day life? How do you yield positivity and goodness in your life when your mind is constantly encouraging negative thoughts to blossom? Keep this in mind, as hard as it might seem, as unrealistic it may be sounding as you read this, it is possible to channel yourself and your mind in a positive route even when faced with adversity. Instead of crying fowl when you encounter a setback, why not take that as an opportunity to grow and step outside your comfort zone?
Overly changing your mindset and making it work for your good is possible. There are many areas to cover but the purpose of this article is to show you that it is possible. The key is in starting the process by being informed about the mind and understanding how it works.
